I need some advice. (Might split this into parts)

I stopped communicating/blocked a friend about five-six months back now. They didn’t say anything about it up until recently, but are now communicating through a mutual friend and have convinced me to talk to them later tonight because they want to apologize.

When I was friends with them, they had this terrible habit of holding any/everything I did against me seemingly forever. They’d pretend like everything was fine and forgiven, but (cont.)

(Cont.) ,but then they would bring it up anytime they could and become passive-aggressive over stuff I had long since apologized for or changed my behavior over. I got kind of tired of continually trying to walk on thin ice every time I spoke with them, because even having a disagreement of opinion could classify as an offense.

Our mutual friend is convinced he’s really sorry and wants to make things right, but I don’t think that’s the case. (Cont.)

(Cont.) I would like to think that he realizes why he hurt me so much, but I don’t think he does. I think he’s apologizing because he doesn’t want to be blocked anymore- but that doesn’t fix the problem. I’ve mostly agreed to the meeting because I wanted to be the better person and give him a chance. But I’m so pessimistic and it’s kind of stressing me out. What should I do? I’m thinking maybe just re-block if it gets to the point where it used to be during our conversation, but I don’t know.
